Rider on the Angry Sea
"Rider" is an Ifdakar song written by Jon Schinke, and serves as the third part of a three song cycle chronicling the voyage of a time traveling sage. "Sage" and "Drive" make up the other two songs of the cycle, respectively. Listen to live versions of all three songs here.
No boat, a raft, no loved ones near
Distilled inside, emotions spared
Mistake of fate and none compare
To which none
Blame is shared
It's beyond repair
The sun still bakes, my skin it burns
Have I not moved, still the Earth it turns?
Ships pass by, can they not see,
What I've become, my tragedy?
Taken in by foe or prey
Remains unknown this very day
This very day
Foe or prey?
I was bathed and clothed and fed well
Narrowly escaped hell
As happy as I claim to be
In my hands now lies my destiny
So back into this hemisphere
Clean the slate and reappear
Who you are and who you'll be
Is a matter of your company
And so goes this living game
It's just a game
A big fucking game
I don't know what your life has taken
But I can tell what that smile on your face meant
There's a stone right where your heart should be
A stone right where your heart should be
You stand in line a bit declined
Show yourself to the shore
Your head, it spins
Unsure what kind of shape you're in
Delightful ride, but missing time
Has anyone ever felt so strange?
It takes time to float in range
So strange, so strange...
