Why Not Wausau Festival 2010
As a music fan, it's exhilarating to see small music festivals continuing to pop up all over our state, even in this harsh economic climate. The persistence and determination of promoters, organizers, musicians and their fans proves that the Wisconsin music scene is alive and well and simply won't take no for an answer.
One such festival approaching it's inaugural year is the Why Not Wausau? Music and Arts Festival in Wausau, WI, scheduled for the weekend of August 13 & 14. The first night of the celebration will be held in Downtown Wausau on the square and feature Ryan Flannery & The Night Owls and Blueheels. Saturday night brings the party to Granite Peak with music starting at high noon with Trapper Shoepp & the Shades, Absinthe & The Dirty Floors, Farewell Milwaukee, Communist Daughter, The Daredevil Christopher Wright, .357 String Band and Madison powerhouse Steez, headlining the event.
Organizers Flapjack Creative are obviously well aware of the financial struggles we all deal with today and have kept ticket prices ridiculously low. Friday's music is completely free of charge and Saturday's price is a meager $15 pre-sale and $20 day of. Feel free to bring the kids, as well. Children 8 and under will be admitted for no charge.
With prices like these, numerous art installations, and quality bands, it's clear that the Why Not Wausau? Festival has already answered it's own question.
